M+N Architecture participated to the design competition for Car Repair Workshops Prototypes and our design was shortlisted in the best 3 (out o the 9 proposals received). The proposal comprises 3 different Prototypes (Workshop Tier 1, 2 and 3) to be replicated multiple times in a new area currently under development in Mussafah (Abu Dhabi). Our design follows a very simple (and realistic) approach, which is to use simple box-like volumes coloured in different tones and slightly overhanging from the ground floor creating a movement along the road. This is a very simple idea but it allows to keep the costs of construction affordable and uses the 1st floor as the only real feature of the development, as the ground floors is not really visible from the road, according to the main masterplan which envisions high boundary walls around each plot.
